A Hybrid Predicate Calculus∗
نویسنده
چکیده
We present the Hybrid Predicate Calculus (HPC), a hybrid logical system which incorporates a fairly conventional first-order predicate calculus, but which also include elements of modal logic and relational algebra. A special effort has been made to produce a (syntactically and semantically) well-integrated whole, rather than just a disjoint union. Our calculus, from a formal point of view, is equivalent (in terms of expressiveness) to conventional first-order systems. It exhibits, however, some promising pragmatic advantages. In particular, many statements of so-called “everyday” language can be formulated more directly and concisely, often without resort to any bound variables.

Internalization: The Case of Hybrid Logics
A sequent calculus for hybrid logics is developed from a calculus for classical predicate logic by a series of transformations. We formalize the semantic theory of hybrid logic using a sequent calculus for predicate logic plus axioms. This works, but it is ugly. The unattractive features are removed one-by-one, until the final vestiges of the metalanguage can be set aside to reveal a fully inte...
متن کاملAn Assume/Guarantee Based Compositional Calculus for Hybrid CSP
HCSP (Hybrid CSP) extends CSP to describe interacting continuous and discrete dynamics. The concurrency with synchronous communications, timing constructs, interrupts, differential equations, and so on, make the behavior of HCSP difficult to specify and verify. In this paper, we propose a Hoare-style calculus for reasoning about HCSP. The calculus includes Duration Calculus formulas to record p...

متن کاملContinuous Processes in the Fluent Calculus
Among the known predicate calculus formalisms for axiomatizing commonsense reasoning about actions, the Fluent Calculus stands out in offering a solution not only to the representational but also the inferential aspect of the fundamental Frame Problem. In this paper we extend this formalism to modeling hybrid systems, which involve both discrete and continuous change. We borrow basic notions fr...
متن کاملA Case Study on Formal Design of Hybrid Control Systems
In this paper, we present an approach to the design of hybrid systems by combination of several comprehensive formalization techniques. We use Duration Calculus (DC) to specify the requirement and design at abstract level of system development. Then the high level designs are further refined in control theory. A formal verification may be done either in DC if it is possible, or in predicate cal...
